Dairy Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) Coordinator, School of Food and Nutritional Sciences

The EU has funded an Erasmus+ project to develop a Dairy Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE). UCC is the lead Irish partner on this project and will join eight other national CoVEs to significantly contribute to dairy training and lifelong development for a sustainable Dairy Sector. The Dairy CoVE Coordinator will be a dynamic professional responsible for providing high-level operational support in a complex training ecosystem. In addition, they will manage the integration of UCC's Dairy activities from each of the various parts of the knowledge triangle (Research, Education and Industry) to deliver on our ambitions for a European Dairy Training Hub, a European Dairy Academy and Ireland's Dairy Centre of Vocational Excellence.

The Dairy CoVE Coordinator will be joining a leading team of dairy professionals. UCC is the number one University for Dairy Science in Ireland (and 10th Globally), with two of the most highly cited dairy researchers on the team. We have recently expanded our team of Dairy Researchers and Dairy Education programmes (with the Food Industry Training Unit) and are currently adding to the physical infrastructure. The Dairy Centre of Vocational Excellence will be part of the School of Food and Nutritional Sciences.

Territory Account Manager
Dairy Sector
Manchester and surrounding area

Job Profile Summary:

To define objectives, plan actions and carry out activities for maximising performance in nominated accounts on the specified territory, predominantly within the Dairy sector, in order to meet or exceed sales and profit targets.


Responsibilities:

  • Meet established and expected standards of performance.
  • Deliver agreed sales targets and customer service levels.
  • Manage the relationships within assigned accounts, focusing on the customer service appropriate for that particular business. This should include:
    • Technical service and support to the customer.
    • Customer’s staff training for the safe handling of chemicals
    • Involvement in the production of hygiene schedules when needed
    • Offer and contract design, management, monitoring and negotiation.
    • Profit optimisation
    • Completion of customer management and territory coverage plans.
  • Manage specific sites belonging to national account groups meeting the appropriate “Service Level Agreement” set at group level.
  • Manager independent / Regional customers meeting the appropriate and agreed “Service Level Agreement”
  • Visit customer’s sites including night and weekend work as required to ensure Service Level Agreements are met and business objectives are achieved.
  • Utilise the “Value Selling” approach to grow profitable business and maintain long term customer relationships.
  • Utilise appropriate company and customer reporting systems.
  • Follow approved company and customer policies and procedures
  • Provide key input to the sales plans developed by the Regional Manager and KAMs (Key Account Managers), implementing actions within the framework of these plans to achieve profitable sales growth
  • The identification and development of new business to maximise profitable growth opportunities.  This to include:
    • Developing details plans to ensure new business opportunities are fully exploited including value selling and Knowledge Based Services.
    • The organic growth of sales to existing customers using gap analysis, cross range selling and value selling including Knowledge Based Services.
    • The optimisation of offers including spend reductions, application and supply.
    • Prospecting of new customers either independent or with Key Account Groups and the development to profitable live customer status.
  • Participate in setting SMART personal and business goals and objectives.
  • Actively participate in problem identification and process improvement.
  • Take action as required to deliver the required business outcomes, objectives and goals.
  • Shows initiative and innovation in achieving objectives and goals.


QUALIFICATIONS (essential or desirable)

  • Experience in a similar / comparable role selling primarily to the Dairy Sector (or Beverage / Processed Food)
  • Graduate level qualification in a job related discipline (e.g. Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry)
  • Minimum of 2 years industry related knowledge / experience in manufacturing and processing within the Dairy Sector. / Beverage Sector / Processed Food Sector.
  • Product, customer and market knowledge in the Dairy Sector / Beverage Sector / Processed Food Sector.
  • Application knowledge within the Dairy Sector / Beverage Sector / Processed Food Sector, including CIP, Membrane operation, OPC, chemical applications and equipment systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of the concept of “optimisation”
  • Knowledge and understanding of the concept of “value selling”

Key Account Manager

Job Profile Summary:

To maximize performance in nominated distributor accounts, supporting both them and their customers,  within the Agriculture sector (Dairy Farm), in order to meet or exceed sales and profit targets.


Responsibilities:

    • Manage the relationships within assigned distributor accounts, focusing on the customer service appropriate for that particular business. This should include:
    • Technical service and support to end user customers
    • Customer’s staff training
    • Sales development plan and implementation for end user customer base
    • Offer and contract design, management, monitoring and negotiation.
    • Profit optimisation
    • Completion of customer management and territory coverage plans.
    • Working business to business you will offer technical advice and sell cleaning chemicals to the agricultural industry.
    • Work with colleagues and support to ensure key customer requirements are understood and matched with the services provided by Diversey.
    • Ensures sales growth and business plans are developed and executed inline with company expectations and any deviations are notified to line managements along with remedial action plans.
    • Communicate effectively using appropriate tools, and ensure company policies and business ethics are followed by self and support functions


QUALIFICATIONS (essential or desirable)

  • Knowledge of Irish Dairy farming sector is desirable
